Wild Berries restaurant on Brandywine (in the old Ned Kelly’s building) in Peoria may be a fairly new addition to the Peoria area, but they know home cooking and they do it well. When you walk into Wild Berries, you’re greeted by their friendly staff and “country” style decor.
The thing that fascinates me about Wild Berries is the HUGE selection of food and drinks they offer. They also serve breakfast all day long. After flipping through 6 pages of the menu and considering everything from pastas and pizzas to ribs, sandwiches and even some unique Greek dishes I had never heard of before, I decided on the roasted chicken dinner and my wife picked a simpler option, chicken tenders. (A usual choice for her at someplace new)
The roasted chicken meal was enough to feed an army as it included a dinner salad, breadstick, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy and a very large section of roasted chicken. The salad was good the potatoes and chicken were delicious, however the breadstick seemed a little bland. Perhaps it would have been better along with one of their pasta dishes so there would be some sauce to dip it in. Still a great value to get all that for under $10.
Overall, the experience at Wild Berries was wonderful, however there are a few things they could work on to improve the customer experience. While eating there I noticed that they seemed very understaffed at their cash register and hostess station. (Several people had to wait around 3-5 minutes just to pay their bill and One family decided not to wait to be seated and just left).
It’s good home cooked food and a pretty decent price, and that’s hard to find anymore. Check out Wild Berries with your family tonight!
